Keeping Gambling in Perspective
For most people, gambling is occasional entertainment. For others, it can become difficult to manage and may lead to financial, emotional or personal problems.
Responsible gambling is based on understanding these risks, setting clear personal limits and recognising changes in behaviour before gambling begins to affect other parts of life.
Practical Ways to Stay in Control
Setting limits before you start is generally easier than trying to make decisions during a gambling session.
- Decide on a budget: only use money that is not needed for bills, food, savings or other essential expenses.
- Do not chase losses: increasing stakes in an attempt to recover previous losses can lead to further financial harm.
- Set a time limit: decide how long you intend to play and stop when that period ends.
- Avoid gambling under pressure: do not play when highly stressed, upset or unable to concentrate clearly.
- Avoid alcohol and drugs: substances can affect judgement and make it harder to keep to personal limits.
- Take regular breaks: step away if you feel tired, frustrated or focused mainly on recovering money.
- Use one account: keeping activity within a single account makes it easier to understand how much time and money you are spending.
Signs That It May Be Time to Stop
A change in gambling habits can be a reason to review your activity or take a break. Warning signs may include:
- spending more money than originally planned;
- trying repeatedly to recover losses;
- borrowing money to gamble;
- hiding gambling activity from other people;
- feeling anxious, angry or distressed after playing;
- gambling for longer periods than intended;
- allowing gambling to interfere with work, relationships or other responsibilities.
If several of these situations are familiar, taking a break or using self-exclusion may be appropriate.
Independent Gambling Support
Independent organisations provide information, self-assessment tools and guidance for people who are concerned about their gambling habits.
- Gambling self-assessment
- Safer gambling information
- You can also contact Duelbits support through the platform if you need information about account restrictions or responsible gambling options.
Protecting Underage Users
Duelbits is intended only for people aged 18 or over. Anyone below the minimum permitted age must not register an account or use the gambling services available on the platform.
If you share a computer, phone or other device with children or teenagers, keep your login details private and sign out when you have finished using your account.
Parents and guardians may also use parental controls or internet filtering software to restrict access to gambling-related websites.
Taking a Break Through Self-Exclusion
Self-exclusion allows you to block access to gambling for a selected period. It can be used when you want a temporary break or when you decide that you should no longer have access to gambling services.
A self-exclusion request can be made through Duelbits live support. Account ownership may need to be verified before the restriction is applied.
Available Exclusion Periods
When an account closure request is received, the account and any identified linked accounts may first be placed into a 24-hour cooling-off period during which gambling activity is disabled.
After this period, the available self-exclusion options may include:
- 1 week;
- 1 month;
- 6 months;
- permanent self-exclusion.
Once a selected self-exclusion period has been confirmed, it cannot be shortened or cancelled before the stated period has ended. A permanent exclusion remains in place indefinitely.
What Happens to Your Account
When self-exclusion is applied, gambling access to the affected account is restricted. Linked accounts identified as belonging to the same user may also be included.
Any remaining account balance will be handled manually in accordance with the applicable account and withdrawal procedures. Funds should not intentionally be left in an account during an exclusion period.
Open Bets During Self-Exclusion
If active bets are present when self-exclusion begins, available cash-out options should be used where possible.
Where cash out is available but has not been used, Duelbits may process it when the exclusion is confirmed. If cash out is not available, an active bet may remain until settlement, after which any eligible winnings will be handled manually.
An active bet is not automatically voided solely because self-exclusion has been requested, and previously settled or closed bets will not be reinstated when an exclusion period ends.
Your Responsibilities During an Exclusion
Self-exclusion is intended to prevent further gambling activity. Once the restriction is active, you should not attempt to bypass it.
- Do not deposit funds or place wagers through an excluded account.
- Do not create another account during the exclusion period.
- Do not use another account to avoid the restriction.
- Do not attempt to disguise account ownership, payment information or other identifying details.
If another account is identified as being used to bypass an active self-exclusion, Duelbits may close or restrict that account as soon as it is detected.
Attempts to Bypass Self-Exclusion
Duelbits will take reasonable steps to enforce an active self-exclusion, but users are also responsible for complying with the restriction they requested.
Attempts to open additional accounts, conceal account connections or continue gambling during an active exclusion may result in account closure and other action permitted under the platform’s terms.
Wagers, promotional rewards or promotion entries made through accounts used to bypass an active self-exclusion may be subject to cancellation or forfeiture in accordance with the applicable terms.
Returning After a Temporary Exclusion
A temporary self-exclusion remains active until its selected period has finished. Access will not be restored early simply because the user changes their mind during that period.
Before returning to gambling, consider whether the reasons for requesting the original exclusion have changed and whether additional personal limits would be appropriate.
Responsible Play Comes First
There is no gambling strategy that guarantees a profit. Gambling always involves the possibility of losing money, and previous results do not guarantee future outcomes.
Only gamble with money you can afford to lose, keep clear limits on your spending and time, and stop playing when gambling no longer feels like entertainment. If maintaining control becomes difficult, use the responsible gambling and self-exclusion options available through Duelbits.
